MEMORANDUM
Date: April 14, 2008
To: Distribution
From:
Robert Feneis, Warden
Subject:
Labor/Management Meeting – March 19, 2008 Attending:
Robert Feneis, Anita Alexander, Jo Earhart, Mark Freer, Nancy Moore, Tim
Henderson, Darby Bunnell, Amy Score, Denise Pierre, Shannon Crittenden, Kris
Ringgold, Mark Rozak, Mike West, Sid Helseth Clear Bag Guidelines This is a
follow-up from the January meeting. The
administration has reviewed and there will be no changes at this time.
Motorcycle Parking The number
of motorcycle riders has increased. With
the lot being re-striped last year the motorcycle parking spot sections aren’t
adequate. Is it possible for an
area to be designated for motorcycle parking with kickstand plates and not have
them disbursed in between parked vehicles spots?
Anita will look into the issue for
more motorcycle parking in both parking lots.
She’ll work with Kris Ringgold as possible areas are identified.
If areas can be agreed upon regarding this issue the Warden would like it
resolved before the next meeting. Note:
Follow up on this issue – The motorcycle parking areas have been
identified and will be marked off shortly. Officer Bid Postings
·
Back-Up Staff
- Can there be a
staff in Human Resources who is trained as a back up so the officer bids are
posted in a timely manner? Both
HR staff are trained in posting and awarding bids and every effort is and will
continue to be made to ensure that this process occurs in a timely manner.
However, unforeseen circumstances may arise and such circumstances, though
unfortunate, could affect the posting process. Barring that, it is anticipated
that the process will continue to be handled in an appropriate manner. ·
Clarification Regarding Awarding Officer Bids – According to the Unit 208 contract, bids must be posted for a minimum
of five (5) calendar days. Similarly, according to the contract, bid postings
cannot close (expire) on a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday. In the event that
should happen, the expiration date of the posting shall be the day following the
weekend or holiday. To ensure that these contractual requirements are met bids will continue
to be posted at 12:01am on Tuesday (pay period end) and will close at 12:00
midnight the following Monday. However, effective
immediately, bids will be awarded by 12:00 noon the next Tuesday
morning. (Postings that would normally expire on a Monday that is an official
holiday will not close until 12:00 midnight the following day.) All bids will be posted on the new SharePoint site. First Watch Squad Duties - Salting and
Sanding Sidewalks Why are
first watch officers doing grounds crew duties to get this done?
The Watch Commanders are asking them to do it.
This year there have been more
ice/slippery areas than usual. There
were areas of concern by the J buildings. Staff
were arriving for work before the grounds crews could get out there during their
work shifts to take care of these icy areas.
While squad are doing their rounds on first watch and notice that there
are slippery spots outside door areas they can utilize the salt/sand buckets
that have been placed around the facility to help with this safety concern. It is the hope of the administration that all staff be
looking out for each other’s safety and would utilize this salt/sand.
Anita will follow up to ensure those first watch squads are just sanding
in front of the door areas and in the MCO area.
They should not be driving around the institution salting/sanding other
areas. It would be nice to get the
bobcat out and around earlier to get salting/sanding done and Anita will follow
up on this issue also. Note:
Follow up on this issue – Squad members are not authorized to drive the
bobcat with the spreader attached. This
task will be handled by trained physical plan staff. There are three physical plant staff on grounds between 6-7
a.m. and if additional sanding and salting is needed (beyond the hand
salting/sanding around the building entryways), they will call out the grounds
crew. Refrigerators - Truck Gate and B-Building
Staff Break Room Can we get a
refrigerator to store our lunches at the truck gate and also in the B-Building
staff break room? Anita
will follow up on this issue to get something for the break room and the truck
gate. Also, if there are any issues
with break room appliances, staff should contact Anita.
Note: Follow up on this
issue noted that the regular truck gate officer does not want a refrigerator and
a refrigerator has been placed in the B-Building break room. Construction Escorts Tim wanted to thank
the Captain and the Watch Commanders for the staffing support in this area –
it’s been great. The next meeting
will be on May 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. |
