President’s Report:
Sat in on three investigations. Presented one
grievance. The shift exchange arbitration
has been rescheduled for January 28th, 2008. There is a BMS (Bureau of
Mediation Services) hearing held today and tomorrow to determine if the Security
Counselors from St. Peter Hospital from Unit 4 can be moved to Unit 8
(Officers). We are opposed to this
because the only thing it would change is their right to strike (take it away).
Attended the Corrections Policy
Committee (CPC) on 1/10/08 and discussed the upcoming legislative session that
will begin in February.
It was decided that each Local's President and Vice-President will attend
several days of the session to lobby and find out information.
Henderson and Bunnell will be attending a two day session in February
where they will be given a tour and meet with the Council 5 Liaison Julie Bleyhl
and meet some State Representatives. Stay
tuned for further updates. The Union party is set for
1/19/08 at the VFW in Blaine. Al Franken is set to tour
sometime this Winter at MCF-Lino Lakes. He's
already toured MCF-Stillwater and MCF-Oak Park. Please support Steve Amic from
MCF-St. Cloud who is running for the M.S.R.S. (Retirement) Board.
He is an Officer at St. Cloud and he has previously been a member on this
Board and is very knowledgeable in this area.
Each member will receive a ballot in the mail in the next week.
Please fill it out and mail it back.

Convention Date: Sun, Jul 27, 2008 - Fri, Aug 01, 2008 Location: San Francisco,
CA Local 2728 is going to send 2-4 members to this convention. Flight, hotel, and lost wages will be paid for by the Local. If you're interested in attending, you can either e-mail Secretary Score or self-nominate at the February 2008 Union Meeting. 2 spots will be designated for elected officers and 2 spots are designated for members. If 2 elected officers do not want to attend, those spot(s) will be open for member(s) to attend. If we get more nominations then the allotted amount, we will vote on who attends at the March 2008 Union Meeting. It's very important that we send members to this convention so that Local 2728 members are represented. At the last International Convention in Chicago, it was voted on to increase our union dues, called the "millennium plan" and our local did not send any members and we did not get to vote on this issue. ^ Discussion: None P Good and Welfare: Kevin
